What Should We Consider For Complex Part Casting?

Due to investment casting is widely used in industrial components production, the compalex part casting is available made by investment casting process, so the structural wall casting designs are always considered important during casting because of requirement of strength and stiffness requirement.

Then what should we consider for the structural wall casting design?

1. The casting structural wall thickness shall be equal as far as possible;

2. The casting wall connection is rounded;

3. The connection of the casting to avoid metal collection;

4, The wall thickness of the casting is different at the same time to smooth transition.

In the design of steel castings, the thicker the wall is, the better the function is to ensure the reliability of strength and stiffness. As a matter of fact, with the increase of wall thickness, the mechanical properties of castings decrease obviously. The reason is that in the process of casting, when the metal liquid enters the cavity at high pressure and speed, it soon cools and solidifies after contacting the surface of the cavity. A layer of fine grain structure is formed on the surface of the chilled casting, and the thickness of the dense fine grain structure is about 0.05 ~ 0.3 mm, so the thin-walled casting has higher mechanical properties. On the contrary, the grain size of the central layer of the thick-walled casting is larger. When the feeding is lacking and the exhaust is poor, it is easy to produce internal shrinkage cavity, porosity, outer surface depression and other defects, so that the mechanical properties of the die casting decrease with the increase of the wall thickness.
